The project began as a pilot in June 2019 following an initial idea from the Poverty Truth Commission. Since then, further funding has been secured to continue the work and develop it further.

There are many organisations which exist to help those in need.  Some of these are run by the Government, others by the local authority and many more by the voluntary sector. Although help is often available, sometimes people need help to find the right place to go to for the support they need. Community connectors make that vital connection, co-ordinating and connecting people to appropriate support.

Our community connectors cover the following areas:

  • Chester
  • Ellesmere Port
  • Northwich, Winsford and Rural East
  • Rural West

Alongside this, Citizens Advice Cheshire West is developing a network of volunteer connectors throughout Cheshire West to signpost and help connect people to the right support. Volunteer connectors are typically people who already work or volunteer in their local community and understand the needs of local residents. We provide free online coaching to help them know how to connect to our services.
